Travel in Luxury
If you want to explore the inland waterways in complete comfort
and do very little this is the holiday for you!
A hotel boat holiday combines the features of a luxury hotel
with the pleasures of a gentle cruise amid the sights of UK's
waterways.
Just like a hotel, hotel boat holidays have all the comforts,
service and full-board accommodation and they usually start at a
site that is easily accessible.
The luxury hotel barges are specially converted from vessels
originally designed to carry cargo on the shallow inland waterways.
They offer air conditioned en-suite cabins for between 4 and 20
passengers. Cruise rates are available per person, and reflect
level of luxury, season, and size of barge. The whole vessel can
also be chartered by groups or companies.
Rooms can vary from single cabins to
doubles or twins and most rooms come with en suites. You can
chill out in the lounge area, have a few drinks at the bar, enjoy a
feast in the dining room, or just watch the world go by in the
outdoor seating areas - there’s something for everyone.
This unique style of holiday takes you and your friends or
family along the inland waterways of UK – the River
Thames in England, or Loch Ness in Scotland. You can explore
wonderful countryside, delightful villages and historical treasures
whilst enjoying superb service and exceptional cuisine from the
onboard crew.
Choosing a holiday company often seems
to be more about luck than science, but help is at hand! The
English Tourist Board have introduced the Boat Grading Scheme - companies that have joined
the scheme have all of their boats inspected by the Tourist Board
every year and given a grade on a scale of 1-5. When
you choose a holiday operator, make sure that they are members of
this scheme.
Holiday bookings can be as long or
short as you like; from a mini break to a week or more. So why not
kick back and enjoy the waterways while someone else does all the
hard work for you?
