Buy a boat

There are plenty of opportunities to get on the water without buying a boat but there are some real advantages to owning your own.

In general boats hold their value well and can be a good investment with great rewards.

Here’s what some existing owners told us:

“buying our own boat gave us the freedom to go where we liked, when we liked.”

“the initial outlay is substantial but over the years we’ve found plenty of ways of saving money. We view it as our main joint hobby”

“I’ve injected my own personality into my yacht”

“we adapted the dinghy to suit our sailing style”

“it felt really great to actually own a PWC – I’d saved for ages”

“it’s so different owning rather than chartering. We can now come down to the boat whenever we like”

“I didn’t like the thought of other people using our narrow boat”

“it’s become like a second home, we don’t always go out on it. It’s just nice to have a week-end away”

“it’s my very own escape! At the end of the week I head to the boat to switch off”

“racing at week-ends is perfect relaxation for me. It’s my boat – I concentrate on getting the best out of it and the crew – the beers at the end are great too!”

“at first we thought buying a boat was a luxury, and it did need careful budgeting. Now it’s a way of life and I can’t imagine being without it”

“we’ve lived within minutes of the river for years and never explored it. Within weeks of buying out first motor boat we knew so much more about our area – everything looks different from the water”
