Scottish Traditional Boat Festival
Details
Nestled in the northeast corner of Scotland, between Inverness
and Aberdeen, Portsoy's Scottish Traditional Boat Festival provides
a holiday or short break destination with something for everyone -
a real family affair. The 2012 Festival has set its sights on
playing its part in Creative Scotland, providing enchanting
examples of the region’s rich cultural heritage with opportunities
both to enjoy and to take part. We also plan to demonstrate the
fascinating creative links including music and dance between
Scotland and our close European neighbours.
As in previous years traditional boats from far and wide will
congregate in the historic harbour at Portsoy. The Festival puts a
special emphasis on boat building, restoration and sailing and on
associated traditional crafts including knitting, weaving and
embroidery and on music and art. The 2012 programme will also
include the very popular Food Fayre showcasing all that’s best in
Scotland’s food and drink. It all adds up to a feast of
opportunities for all to see, take part in and enjoy.
Attracting thousands of visitors, the Scottish Traditional Boat
Festival was launched in 1994 and extols the values of taste,
style, heritage and authenticity. It is a community project which
continually raises the bar year after year.
