On the water supports family week

As well as being the summer half term, Monday 31st May to Sunday 6th June 2010 is also National Family Week. The Week aims to highlight the important role families play in society and encourage healthy active lifestyles and quality family time. With libraries, children centres, community organisations, government bodies, charities, local authorities, sports clubs, celebrities and even the Prime Minister behind The Week, the only thing needed is your family!

The British Marine Federation is one such supporter. Rob Stevens, BMF Chief Executive said:  “The British Marine Federation is delighted to be supporting National Family Week once again. Having recently launched our On The Water website, we fully encourage families to enjoy all that boating has to offer.  From sailing the open seas to navigating the UK’s rivers by canoe or kayak, there really is something to appeal to everyone. The water welcomes visitors from all walks of life, so pop down to your local sailing school, hire boat company or open day to get involved!”

Families like yours across the UK can enjoy thousands of events and many tie into the National Family Week 2010 theme days - Family Week Picnic on Monday 31st May, Family Week Film Day on Tuesday 1st June, Family Week Story Time on Wednesday 2nd June, Family Week Road Trip on Thursday 3rd June and Family Week Sports Day on Saturday 5th June. Plus competitions, offers and promotions to make sure The Week will be fantastic fun for everyone. Or why not organise your very own family event and invite all your family members along?

Regardless of age or stage, shape or size, belief or background, National Family Week promises something for everyone! For more information on National Family Week and other events for you and your whole family to attend, visit http://www.nationalfamilyweek.co.uk/.
