North West England (Lake District)

Boating in the North West

With 1,000 kms of coastline along the Irish Sea and waterways galore in the Lake District, this is a magical region for anyone looking for water-bound fun.

West Kirby's sailing hub recently produced a 12 year-old national powerboat champion and there are more than 80 other boating centres to try out. Lakes Coniston, Ullswater and Windermere in the Lake District are all famous for historic power boat speed records, although you are more likely to find tranquil sails cruises and paddles. Then there are the canals, offering miles and miles of perfect tranquillity.
